The Poultry Science Association has announced that Dr. Woo Kyun Kim will be the recipient of the 2023 Broiler Research Award. He serves as a Professor in the Department of Poultry Science, University of Georgia with a specialty in nutrition. The National Chicken Council Broiler Research Award recognizes studies that have an economic impact on the broiler industry.
Dr. Woo Kim earned his B.S. in Animal Science from his native South Korea. He earned both MS and Doctoral degrees from the Pennsylvania State University and undertook postdoctoral work at Texas A&M University and the University of California, Los Angeles. He
held an academic position at the University of Manitoba before joining the University of Georgia. He has published 200 peer-reviewed papers, 22 proceedings and 183 abstracts and has mentored 24 graduate students. His research deals with the role of feed additives, amino acids and minerals on nutrient utilization and performance.
