AFBF Survey of Thanksgiving Day Dinners


The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) has conducted the 34th annual survey of Thanksgiving Day dinners.  The study showed that the average cost is relatively unchanged from last year at $48.91 for a meal to feed ten diners.


Dr. John Newton, Chief Economist for the AFBF, noted “Americans continue to enjoy the most affordable food supply in the world but don’t realize that only eight cents of every dollar consumers spend on food goes to farmers.”  He added, “The Thanksgiving price survey opens the door to a deeper dialogue about how food is produced and how prices remain so stable despite volatility in the farm economy this year and severe weather hampering, planting and harvest.
