Foster Farms Increases Turkey Donations in 2020


On November 5th Foster Farms announced on that donations to food banks in 2020 will be increased by 60 percent based on current need.  Foster Farms will donate 96,000 pounds of turkey and products to West Coast food banks including Second Harvest of Manteca, CA; SF-Marin Food Bank of San Francisco; Northwest Harvest of Seattle, WA; Merced county Food Bank, Merced, CA; Sacramento Food Bank, Sacramento, CA; Oregon Food Bank Portland, OR.  and Central California Food Bank, Fresno, CA.


Ira Brill, Vice President of Communications for Foster Farms stated, “we hope that our turkey donations will help bring a sense of normalcy to the thousands of families in California, Oregon and Washington who are in need this Thanksgiving.”


In responding to the donation, Blake Young, President and CEO of the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services stated, “we are grateful to Foster Farms for their long-standing support in providing Thanksgiving turkeys to our neighbors for over a decade”.


Seasonal generosity by family-owned Foster Farms commenced in 2008 and will help alleviate hunger in the three western states where the company operates. It is estimated that more than 54 million Americans including 18 million children are subject to food insecurity due to the depressed economy caused by COVID-19.  This represents 1 in 8 adults and 1 in 5 children.
