Venture Capital Funding Continues to Flow to Vegetable Protein Companies

LiveKindly a collective of plant-based manufacturers including Like Meat and the Fry Family Food Company have formed a company entitled Foods United.  The CEO Kees Kruythoff, formerly president of Unilever North America will serve as chairman and CEO and will be assisted by Mick Van Ettinger also formerly of Unilever, functioning as Chief Marketing Officer Aldo Uva formerly of Nestle will serve as Chief Operating Officer.

 

Kruythoff noted that the company will initiate production of a plant-based chicken substitute with the intention of capturing a share of the existing market for real chicken.  The company is funded by $200 million by founders including Roger Lienhard, an early investor in Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods.
