Producers are Advised to Evaluate Inventory and Lead Times for Imported Requirements

03/18/2020

CHICK-NEWS has received notifications from a number of suppliers of critical items required by the poultry industry that transport disruption may delay delivery of items sourced from the EU and Asia.

Without discussing specific companies, all have warned that customers should increase inventory consistent with delays following cancellation of passenger flights into the U.S. that also carry cargo.  Products at risk include spare parts for equipment, diagnostic reagents, some vaccines and amino acids.

Fortunately, there have been no direct impacts on the supply or distribution of products manufactured in the U.S. including biologics, pharmaceuticals, and breeding stock.  Depending on the severity of Covid-19, the situation may change and prudent inventory levels are suggested.
