Nan-Dirk Mulder, Senior Global Specialist for animal protein at Rabobank considers that consumption of chicken will in part compensate for the decline in pork production attributed to the ongoing outbreak of African swine fever in Eastern Europe and Asia.
He noted "in terms of markets we expect more at-home poultry consumption and higher sales of non-perishable poultry products."
Mulder highlighted the effect of COVID-19 on international trade especially with the emerging global economic slow down. Rabobank predicts volatility in 2020 as a result of logistic and quarantine issues impacting supply and demand considerations and hence pricing.
