According to a company press release, Tyson Foods will erect a new feed mill in Hempstead Country, AR to replace obsolete units in Hope, and Nashville. A total of $65 million will be invested in land and improvements. The mill will be located on a tract with rail access provided by the Kiamichi Railroad Co. The 329-acre extent of the property will allow for construction of a circular spur suitable to receive 100-car trains.
The County, Arkansas Development Corporation and Tyson Foods assigned $14 million to reinforcing 14 miles of AR 195 to carry 40-ton vehicles.
The mill is expected to be operational at the end of 2021 and will have a complement of 50 employees most transferred from the existing two Arkansas facilities.
