Requirements imposed by the China General Administration for Customs will demand that exporters of agriculture commodities including meat provide a certificate confirming that products were tested and found free of SARS-CoV-2 the virus responsible for COVID-19.
The USAPEEC MondayLine on July 27th indicated that unofficial reports suggest that exporters will have to test for the presence of viral RNA in products before consignment to China.
Confirmation of this requirement will be elicited from authorities in China coupled with a message from USDA that there is no scientific evidence that COVID-19 is transmitted through ingredients or food products.
