Dominican Republic Reports LPAI

01/30/2019

Members of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) are obliged to report low pathogenicity AI in an annual end-of-year report.  The Dominican Republic reported a series of outbreaks of H5N2 LPAI in four provinces during the period September 2017 through March 2018 with “resolution” by June 2018.

No information is provided on the source of infection and it is presumed that relatively small flocks were involved. The report confirms the presence of an H5 strain of AI in the Caribbean.
