Dr. Juan DeVillena has been appointed as Senior Vice-president for Quality Assurance and Food Safety for Wayne-Sanderson Farms replacing Bryan Miller who has retired. Dr. DeVillena joined the company in 2004 and has served in various roles in complexes in Arkansas and Georgia with increasing responsibility. His most recent position was Vice-president for Quality Assurance and Food Safety for the Wayne-Sanderson Prepared Foods business unit.
Dr. DeVillena earned a baccalaureate degree in food science from the National Agricultural University of La Molina in Peru, a Master of Science degree in food science from the University of Maryland and a doctoral degree in Animal Science from Texas Tech, University.
Dr. DeVillena is Chairman of the Advisory Committee to the Agricultural Technology Research Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology and serves on planning committees for the U.S. Poultry and Egg Association.
